Foundation Stage 1 – A Year of Exploration and Growth
Foundation Stage 1 (FS1) at Crest Bridge International School is an exciting phase where children aged 3 to 4 engage in exploratory, self-directed learning through meaningful play. Our approach nurtures curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, fostering essential social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development. A balance of child-initiated and teacher-led activities encourages students to investigate, question, and build the foundations for lifelong learning.
Each day is filled with engaging activities like arts and crafts, construction, and small-world play, helping children develop spatial awareness, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. A language-rich environment supports early literacy through speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with plenty of opportunities for creative expression. Teachers encourage children to explore reading and writing in meaningful ways, nurturing a love for storytelling and communication.
Exploring, Creating, and Growing in FS1
At Crest Bridge International School, FS1 students discover numbers and patterns in creative ways, while sensory play sparks curiosity in science and investigation. With the freedom to move between indoor and outdoor learning spaces, children actively engage with their environment, experimenting, predicting, and questioning as they learn.
Through hands-on activities like scooping, pouring, and sifting in sand and water play, children develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Role-play fosters imagination, storytelling, and social interaction, helping them understand real-world roles. Encouraging independence in daily routines builds confidence, while collaborative activities strengthen listening, communication, and teamwork.
